HVAC / Plumbing at Adult School
Students explore the many possibilities this trade offers including theory and participation in the hands-on lab. Theory includes the basic refrigeration and AC cycle, electricity, and heating equipment operation. In the lab, students learn how to use the “tools of the trade” to design, install, and troubleshoot HVAC/R equipment. The course provides an opportunity for students to receive an ERA certification for refrigerant handling and recovery, which provides a leading edge for employment in this trade. In the plumbing unit, students learn to install sinks, drains, toilets, refrigerators, dishwashers and oil burners. Students are taught how to maintain septic systems. Soldering skills and pipe fitting related to these installations are included in the training. This course also covers related plumbing theory that applies to HVAC and hydraulic systems along with basic plumbing practices.
